Calanques

Aunt Liza took us on a hike to the Calanques, picturesque rocky beaches on the Mediterranean Sea. 

Although the day was hot, the water was pretty cold.

Tom's last day

Nugget showed Tom how play with a balloon before he goes home to Israel.

Although Nugget didn't make it up on the couch in this picture, yesterday he was sufficiently motivated to climb up to get Tom's bottle cap. I guess when we get home we will need to do more babyproofing.

Madeleine's birthday and back to Aix

While in Lyon we met up with some relatives from Daddy's side. It also happened to be the sixth birthday of Nugget's fourth cousin, Madeleine. As you can see, she is a sweet girl but Nugget thought a spoon was more interesting.

Another day in Lyon

Uncle Nir bought balloons for the boys.

Lunch at La Cuisine

We rode a funicular to the top of a steep hill.

We did not have a chance to see inside the basilica at the top.

But we could admire the view of the city anyway.

Nearby were ruins of Roman amphitheaters.

In the evening the men went out for dinner and we women stayed in. Nugget was pretty much bouncing off the walls as usual.

We go to Lyon

We rented a car and drove to Lyon. For completely mysterious reasons, Nugget was unhappy about most of the ride.

In Lyon we had lunch at a charming little bouchon called Cafe du Soleil. Nugget enjoyed the Lyonnaise specialty of quenelle, a large fish cake in bisque. Then he explored the cafe while the grownups had coffee.

We rented an apartment that had room for Nugget to crawl around.

Nugget loves to help type.

With a larger opening Nugget easily mastered putting the straw in the cup.

The ladies went out for a leisurely dinner and the men stayed in with the babies. When I returned, I learned that Nugget continued his jet lagged sleeping habits by taking a nap and spending the rest of the evening playing. When we finally went to bed around 1am, Nugget was completely hyperactive and making laps on the bed.
